Y Combinator startup Scape emerges from stealth with $3.2M to rethink email

More than one billion professionals spend most of their workday in email: an interface that hasn't changed in 25 years. Scape, founded by two 23-year-old Swedes, today emerges from stealth and launches an intelligent email inbox. Scape has raised $3.2 million from Y Combinator, General Catalyst, and FundersClub. Angel investors include: Max Junestrand (co-founder of Legora), Sebastian Knutsson (co-founder of King), Jacob Wallenberg jr. (Ramp and EQT), Sophia Bendz (previously CMO, Spotify), and operators from OpenAI, Google, Meta and Ramp. Using Gmail can make email feel more like work about work, than actual work. Simply answering an email from a client can mean reading through old threads to find context, checking meeting notes for what was agreed, filling out attached forms in a separate tool, uploading them, writing the email and sending it, and then watching for their reply among all other ongoing threads. Deciding how to respond is only a fraction of that time. With Scape, this c

Wave Ventures marks decade with €10M fund and founder grants

Nordic venture capital firm Wave Ventures has announced the final close of its third fund at €10 million, marking a significant increase from its previous €2 million fund and a decade since it was founded as a student-led initiative in Helsinki. Fund III is managed by a team composed entirely of investors aged 25 and under and is backed by founders, operators, and investors from companies including Spotify, Wolt, Slack, Bolt, Oura, Nokia, Supercell, GANNI, and Voi, alongside European early-stage venture capital firms and family offices. Founded in 2016, Wave Ventures focuses on angel and pre-seed investments and is often among the first institutional investors backing Nordic startups. To date, it has made more than 50 investments, including companies such as Inven and Tzafon. In 2024, Wave backed three of the five Nordic startups accepted into Y Combinator. With the new fund, Wave plans to expand its investment activity across the Nordics, investing up to €300,000 in early-stage compan

Tonada exits stealth with backing from Vercel's CEO and Last.fm's co-founder

An array of music-industry veterans and operators, including the co-founder of online music pioneer Last.fm and the CEO of cloud app hosting startup Vercel, are backing a Swedish AI-generated music platform designed to shake up the staid world of retail background music, which is emerging from stealth today. Tonada was founded by Juan Manuel Serruya, previously engineering lead at Spotify, and Jonathan Andersson, previously head of sales at Wolt, with a plan to overhaul the world of retail and hospitality background music. Tonada says that physical spaces still run on intuition when it comes to background music, like a licensed playlist someone picked once, set to shuffle, looped forever, identical to the place down the street. It points to research showing that the tempo of background music in a physical space can move sales by more than 30 per cent. Tonada has built a proprietary AI generative-music engine that works with each brand to define its "sonic identity", which then produces
